What is GM quality assurance process?
Ingredient Sourcing and Handling:
  • Supplier Verification: GM establishes strict criteria for selecting suppliers, ensuring they adhere to food safety standards and provide high-quality ingredients. Regularly audit suppliers to maintain quality. Work with suppliers we know and trust and have provided quality products with over 35 years of combined food service experience.
  • Ingredient Inspection: GM trains all staff to inspect all food for quality assurance. As food deliveries arrive our COO implements a rigorous inspection upon receiving ingredients. This includes verifying freshness, temperature, and proper labeling. GM rejects any subpar items.
  • Proper Storage: GM maintains appropriate storage conditions (temperature, humidity) for different types of ingredients to prevent spoilage and contamination. Use FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory management. All refrigerators and freezers have multiple thermometers for staff to utilize to ensure food is kept at the proper temperatures.
 Meal Preparation:
  • Standardized Recipes: GM uses clear and detailed recipes to ensure consistency in taste and quality across all meals.Our professionally trained Chefs regularly review and update recipes based on feedback and ingredient availability.
  • Skilled Kitchen Staff: Golden Meals is owned by professionally trained Chefs with a combined experience of running kitchens in various food establishments for over 35 years. GM employs trained chefs and kitchen staff who understand food safety ( proper temperatures for cooking, cooling and storing food), hygiene(sanitization, hand washing etc..), and proper cooking techniques. GM also provides ongoing training to keep team members skills updated.
  • Clean and Sanitary Environment: GM takes pride in maintaining a clean and sanitized kitchen environment to prevent cross-contamination. This is especially important with our Halal certification and upcoming gluten-free certification we are implementing shortly. GM staff follow a strict daily cleaning schedule along with weekly deep cleaning and subcontract outside agencies to clean hood systems and other mechanical items found in the kitchen. All of our cleaning adhere to Serve safe food safety regulations. All of our staff are fully trained in food safety including packers, kitchen staff and delivery drivers.
 Packaging and Delivery:
  • Food-Grade Packaging: GM uses high-quality, food-grade packaging materials that maintain freshness and proper temperature to prevent leaks or spills during transit.
  • Temperature Control: GM utilizes insulated bags and containers to keep meals at the appropriate temperature (hot or cold) throughout the delivery process. GM also utilizes refrigerated delivery vehicles.
  • Efficient Delivery Network: GM utilizes delivery tracking applications to optimize delivery routes and minimize transit time that also provides customer notification when delivery is 10 minutes away for convenience and a smooth transit. All of our drivers are given background checks before hiring.
 Customer Feedback and Monitoring:
  • Feedback Mechanisms: Golden Meals has an open door policy with all of our clients. We pride ourselves in taking in feedback as it comes. We would like to provide a solution as soon as possible to ensure customer and client satisfaction.
  • Complaint Resolution: Golden Meals makes it simple to to resolve any situations that may arise by providing emails and phone numbers directly to our senior management team. Our goal is to correct anything as quickly as possible.

What standards does GM follow for our medically tailored meals?

GM currently follows the New York State nutrition guidelines for medically tailored meals (MTM) to ensure they effectively address the needs of individuals with certain medical conditions. These guidelines are based on the following key principles:

Alignment with National Standards:
  • New York State’s MTM guidelines generally align with national standards, such as those established by the Food is Medicine Coalition (FIMC) and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • These standards emphasize the importance of providing meals that are:
    • Nutritionally complete: Meeting the individual’s needs for macronutrients (protein, carbohydrates, fats), micronutrients (vitamins, minerals), and fluids.
    • Tailored to medical conditions: Addressing specific dietary restrictions and needs related to conditions like diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, and HIV/AIDS.
    • Prepared with high-quality ingredients: Using fresh, wholesome ingredients and avoiding excessive processed foods, added sugars, and unhealthy fats.
Registered Dietitian Oversight:
  • A key component of New York’s MTM guidelines is the involvement of Registered Dietitians (RDs) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs).
  • GM has an RDN on staff to review and modify all recipes before use to ensure proper ingredients are used for medically tailored meals.
  • GM uses ESHA, a nutritional software product, services, and databases that is recognized as the industry’s top choice for food and supplement formulation, recipe development, labeling, nutritional analysis, and regulatory compliance.
How does your Halal Meals work?
Halal Certification
  • GM has Halal certification through ISA (Islamic Services of America) a recognized global leader in halal certification.
  • GM has a data based of certified spices, meats, canned goods, fruits, vegetables.
  • GM provides clients with a list of our already certified meals.

Certifying new meals
  • GM can provide certified meals using your recipes. Yes! This is how that works.
  • GM will sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement to protect client recipes from being shared or duplicated without permission.
  • GM will review the recipe to determine if any new ingredients need to be added to our halal in home database of certified ingredients.
  • If new ingredients are required, GM will source a comparable halal-certified alternative, obtain certification from the supplier, and submit it to ISA Halal for review.
  • GM will ensure all ingredients meet compliance and submit the finalized recipe(s) to an ISA Halal auditor for review.
  • All meals are required to be certified as a whole meal which includes the ingredients which will result in a certified hala meal label.
  • Begin production upon receiving approval from ISA.
